Astro Saber Programming/Non-Identical Flashcodes

Post by nylawman »

I own two UHF Astro Saber III's purchased from different sources on eBay. One recently began malfunctioning (see my posting, this date). Both are flashed for IMBE (Apco25) and a host of other features. The first/now malfunctioning radio was programmed for me by the seller with freq's I use locally. The second, appears to have been programmed with LAPD area freq's. The flashcodes are basically the same although the second unit appears to have added/not needed features (MODAT/trunking capability, in addition to my required conventional capability).

With RSS software purchased from Motorola, I read and saved each of the programs.

QUESTION: Keeping in mind that the Flashcodes are not identical, can I load the previously stored program from the first (now malfunctioning) radio into the second radio? Or, do the unused features that are flashed into the second need to be addressed/turned off during the programming process?

Unfortunately you can't do that. In order to clone, the flashcode and model number must be identical.
