Astro Spectra ?'s

Alrighty -
I'm getting a 110w VHF Astro Spectra on Tuesday. I got a deal on the PA - I don't have any accy's.
I do have a remote cable for a spectra (systems 9000 connector) as I have a A9 spectra in the car.
Someone has been kind enough to lend me a W3 control head for a few days to test it - in which time I'm hoping to accomplish the following:
Test the radio on it's test frequencies
Read the Flashcode out of it
Read host/DSP info from it as well.
Based on the above results - I'll prob. send it to the Depot so that it can get upgraded HOST/DSP as well as get everything in it checked out. Considering what I paid for the PA - the $275ish is not bad, and I'll get a nice newish Spectra out of it.
The radio is an W5. I'd like to to be at leat a W7 if not W9. On the old spectra's you could simply throw in a different codeplug and be good to go - i'm thinking you can do the same thing on these radios - but I don't want an brick.
Based on what I want to use the W3 for - pretty much the same as hitting home 5 times to get the info on the radio - will it work with the radio expecting the w5 control head?
Anyone have any Astro Spectra stuff they want to sell to help w/this project?
Thanks Guys,
Alex
