Hi guys just curious an XTS2500 LCD is it the same module used in a 5000? Just got access to a cheap supply of 5000 LCD's and want to know if they will work in a 2500.

Yup, they will interchange with each other. Just make sure you use the correct display for the correct freq band, because there is a C01, C02, and C03 display..
I believe the 02 works with VHF, and the other two will work on UHF and 800.

I dont have a 2500 service manual in front of me but here is my experience.
VHF XTS2500 has the C04 display in it. Pulled it out and did a plug in test on the XTS5000 VHF which has the C02 display in it and it seemed to power up and work fine. Didn't do any testing for more than 5 minutes though.

Your a champ Jason! I didn't want you to take your radios apart but thanks!
Does anyone know if a C04 will work on a UHF radio?

Oh I did that experiment about a month ago. No worries man. I checked the service manual, VHF,UHF1 and UHF2 all use the C04 display.

My VHF 5k is C02 for what it's worth - but sounds typical of Motorola to make them all different.
Will a C04 work with all 5k's? Is it the "O-negative" blood type of Astro25 displays?

Looks like everything but 800Mhz from what I can read above, Might work for all, I guess someone needs to confirm your question though.

Just for everyones info a C01 is only for 800 mhz models. Though the display seems to work in the other band, it does goofy things on transmit.

The C01 display is only for older 800 5000's (using the NTN9564 vocon) and 800 2500's.
the C02 display is for VHF 5000's and 800 5000's using the "new" NNTN4717 vocon.
the C04 display is specifically for the XTS2500 VHF/R1-R2 UHF
these displays contain fewer/more parts designed to alleviate the problems of RF corrupting the display information.... as seen on the last of the 5k's from Nick.

"these displays contain fewer/more parts designed to alleviate the problems of RF corrupting the display information"
One of the guys I work with purchased a 5K from ebay, and has issues with the display inverting the information (happens on PTT at all battery levels). I thought it might be a FW problem, but he moved the display to a newer radio and had the same problem on that radio. I do not know what part# is on the display, but will ask. He has a 5K M2 VHF with ver 6.??? FW and a basic IMBE flash. I am not sure of the source of his radio, but do believe it has matching tags.

I can say with almost 100 percent sureness that he has a C01 display in the radio. WRONG ONE.

I'm a bit confused...
Jason says he used a C04 LCD in an XTS5000 which normally uses the C02 LCD, but doug says that the C04 for is "specifically for the xts2500" implying it wouldn't work in the 5000. Do we have a definitive answer yet? I need a replacement screen for my VHF 5000 but can only find C04 LCD's
Thanks

per the manuals...
the C04 is NOT EVEN IN THE 5000 BOOK.
It's in the 2500 book.
The C02 is the correct display for the VHF.
