Astro MDC DOS mute timing

Post by kk6rq »

I tried searching and couldn't find an answer to my question, so if I made a Boolean error,
forgive me.... ANYWAY....

I'd like to find out why I can get a tail MDC ID to completely mute on one radio (VHF Astro Spectra) but
can't seem to get the same performance out of another (T-Band Astro Spectra) and numerous portables
(800 MHz XTS 3k, R-split Astro Saber, etc). I've tried the same settings as well as different DOS timing/MDC system settings but no luck. Could it be related to the sending radios? I'm pretty sure the VHF radio users (the ones that work) were early-adopters of digital as they originally were transmitting in 5KHz WIDE mode on their
digital channels (don't worry- I AM talking about the analog channel they use; I know the difference...)

Anybody got a clue about this? Thanks.

It seems like it tends to be different per radio. My AstroSabers *Completely* mute it, but my XTL5000 still lets a peep of the chirp get in. Go figure. . .
