Hi out there!

I just wanted to point to some information about license free radio usage in Germany - in case one of you wants to be able to use his Motorolas when visiting Germany without any special license :-)

http://www.pmr149.de is the URL.

Tell me what you are missing, or what may be not clear enough. I am still working on the stuff, so the pages may change now and then.

Well, not quite.... You NEED a narrow band/modulation capable radio, and a MAX of 1/2 watt output power to meet these PMR specifications.

Of course you need an narrow capable radio, but most modern radios are anyway. And the commonly available output setting 1W ist with a usual rubberduck antenna absolutely suffifient to fulfil the 0.5W ERP rule. And be sure, nobody will care if there are maybe 600 or 800 mW ERP due to a good antenna; most important is to use the correct bandwidth, and not tu use any external antennae...
