I have a XTS 2500 on a 9600 baud system, flashcode 500008-000488-0. Would like to put this unit also on a 3600 baud system also, but the software won't allow type II System info only ASTRO 25. The 5000's will do both systems with the same flash, any info on this. Is this common with the 2500's. Host/DSP 08.xx.xx

Ok I see my mistake 500008-000488-0 compaired to 500008-000482-0 on the 5000

I believe the XTS2500 is either/or...it cannot have both 3600 & 9600 capability in the radio at the same time.

When the 2500 was introduced you had to choose 3600 or 9600.

Subsequently they added a flash option so the radio will do both.

this may be a dumb question on an old post , but after using the search function and wanting to learn more about the 2500 , I recently aquired one, So if program a 9600 baud system can I still program in a 3600 baud system and still listen to both of them?

Once again people:

APCO-25 CAI is 4800 BAUD.

NOT 9600 BAUD.

BAUD means "symbols per second" NOT BITS PER SECOND.

APCO-25 uses a 4 level signaling system, so the bit rate is twice the symbol rate (NOT BAUD RATE. "baud rate" would be "symbols per second per second".)

Either call it 9600 bps, or 4800 baud, or better still, call it "APCO-25 trunking".

If you have a xts2500, and you have Apco 25 trunking (4800 baud;9600Bps) You can do both Motorola Smartnet/Smartzone 3600 trunking, and 9600 Apco 25 trunking BUT you MUST have "Q883 3600/9600 INTEROPERABILITY" and "Q574 SOFTWARE TRUNKING 9600 BAUD" (Don't kill me Wowbagger! Thats a direct quote from Motorola's E-Catalog.) in your Flashcode.

Correct, on a 2500 with that flash you cannot do 3600 trunking. If you had a 5000 it would be good, awful nice of Motorola huh?

oh well at least i can listen to at least one system ...

You're on a losing crusade. When Motorola themselves calls it 9600 BAUD, then people are going to post it as such. For Christ's sake, many people spell it SABRE, when every radio out there says SABER...we all know it's a radio, not a sword, and we all know what is meant when people ask about 9600 BAUD systems. Pull your relief valve, and have a beer.
