Ok, been on vacation, and on the local MSS butt since my radio hasen't come back from the depot yet.

Finally got a call today from the MSS (remember, it was dropped off on 8/20 and has a 5 day turnaround at the depot) after calling them a few times since no one knew where the radio was.

The guy I talked to said that he got an email from the depot stating that the RF borad needs to be replaced, the case is cracked/broke and that there is water damage.

Huh?

Ok, when I got the Fail 02/90 (DSP Failure) I opened the case and looked for loose cables/connections etc. No signs of water entry, and the case is in near mint condition. Radio was reprogramemd, read/wrote no problems, and RSS just showed N/A for the DSP verison. This radio sits in the truck 99.9% of the time.

I talked to the local MSS guy, and told him:
1-It was sent for flat rate via the shop for $400
2-Case didn't have a single crack/mark/anything
3-When I inspected the case (taking it apart, putting it back together) there was no VISABLE signs of defects.
4-Why should I pay $750 for repairs when it was sent it for flat rate, and why has it taken this long to tell me this?
5-Call them back, and make sure they have the right radio with the right problem.

So am I out of line here? Can the RF board cause the Fail 02/90 etc?

Physical Damage is not covered under the Flat Rate pricing. Physical damage is billed on T & M (Time and Materials) only. I am afraid that you may have to pay the full price for the repair.
