So, here I was browsing e**y, and I ran across an interesting find, apparently, someone took an MT1500 1.5 and converted it into a full key XTS2500 Mdl 3...with a FPP flashcode.

Now here is my question, are there certain people that know secret squirrel techniques? Is there someway perhaps that people are reading these radios s-record or similar out, then forcing or writing them into a donor radio?

To answer your question, yes.

As far as who/how/where/when, nobody really knows. Ive just noticed the same thing popping up on eBay from time to time as well..

Just to reinforce the fact this is actually happening, where do you think all of these XTS 2500 / 5000 radios that have features like FPP and ADP come from?

I guarantee that 95% of them didn't leave the factory with those fancy flashcodes. Just based on the sheer number of radios with ALL the fancy options turned on that appear on eBay and here on Batlabs, it is logical to deduce that there are folks out there who know tricks.

Don't ask me, I don't know anything about it, I'm just stating what I've observed. Ask some of the people selling these radios, they don't know either. Go figure.

Not really sure what the big hype or surprise is... This is nothing new for Astro25 products, as the 5A9 and other flavored flashcodes have been floating around for a few years now on the used market.. Just like the 1C5E's of the previous generation Astro products..

I think the old addage about those in the silent services goes for this situation, too:

Those that know, don't talk. Those that talk, don't know.

No question about that. For the record, I wasn't complaining, just stating an observation. It's nice to know that radios with those kinds of options are readily available.

While I understand the addage, it makes those who know's wallets bigger. Too bad it will be just a matter of time before it slips out how to do it...
