Got this in the mailbag from a friend this AM:
SUBJECT: APX7000 and APX7500 may display error message of “Fail 01/82” or “Radio read unpack failure” is displayed in Customer Programming Software (CPS) when attempting to read a radio.
MODEL / SYSTEM AFFECTED:
All APX7000 and APX7500 models portable and mobile radios with firmware (Host/DSP) of R02.00.01 and earlier
SYMPTOM:
After programming or flashing a unit, if power is turned off or disconnected from the radio within 90 seconds of the end of programming by CPS or FLASHport tool, the code plug could potentially become corrupted. If a corruption does occur the unit may exhibit a number of different symptoms. The most probable are:
1. Unit will display an error message of “Fail 01/82” on the unit
2. When attempting to read the unit with CPS, CPS will display an error of “Read radio unpack failure”
3. Radio will not power up or does not fully power up.
CAUSE:
If the radio has its power disconnected too soon after programming/flashing is complete, internal write routines running in the background might not be complete and this could lead to the radio code plug becoming corrupted. This corruption can manifest itself as the errors described in the symptoms section.
