Hi,

Cant seem to get a straight answer from Motorola about this one.
It is my understanding that an XPR 8300 is not 100 per. duty cycle, just 80
True?

Thanks

The marketing literature states 100% duty cycle at full power. Real life experience says much less. Anyone outside of Motorola marketing is probably stating 80% to be on the safe side. If you lower it from 50-watts to about 35, then 100% duty is realistic.

Since portables and mobiles only have a 50% duty cycle even if keyed continuously, (in digital mode) then full rated power is reasonable for a 100% keydown. If running analog, I would assume standard duty cycles like a CDM or similar mobile, HT or similar portable.

Repeaters are rated full output at 100% duty cycle, althouth we always derate them a few watts. Haven't had any failures so far, except for a group of radios being used in a combined system that the original vendor never tuned correctly.
