RJ11 Plug on a Maxtrac Mic
Does anyone have a source for these? The strain relief would be nice as well. I have a need to put a longer cable on a Maxtrac. I have the extra long cable already, but it does not have the 6 pin plug on the end that plugs into the mic. The RJ11 plugs from Radioshack are too short and won't allow me to fit the strain relief into them.
Thanks!
Thanks!

The normal RJ45 Ethernet cable connectors work just fine.

The RJ45 won't fit into the microphone as it's too wide.

Then you don't have a Maxtrac.

Re: RJ11 Plug on a Maxtrac Mic
I realize that one end of the Maxtrac cable does indeed have an RJ45 connector on it, but the other end is the one I need to replace. It is the end that goes into the microphone itself. The cable that I have (the long one) came from another radio, so the end that would plug into the mic was cut, hence why I need that special RJ11 or RJ12, or whatever it is.

Doh! (pardon me while I reverse the cranial rectal insertion I seem to have gotten myself into ...)
That plug. I know which one you're talking about now. Of course I do not have one in front of me to look at, but I think they are standard handset cord plugs - narrower than a telco RJ. If so, then they need the special narrower crimper too. I buy them at Graybar.

No worries. Is it as long as the original?

Buy a replacement cable. Last time I looked, they were like $8

I would do that as long as it was an extra long cable. It won't do me any good if it's just the standard length cable that comes with a Maxtrac mic.RFguy wrote:Buy a replacement cable. Last time I looked, they were like $8

Do you have a part number on MOL for the extended cable?

There's a 10.5 ft long coilcord available for the Maxtracs, HLN9560A, list $14.75(the regular one is 7 ft.). It has the RJ11 connector with strain relief molded onto it, just like the one originally supplied with the HMN1035_ mics.
