HT1250 Code Plug Issue

Post by firefighter105 »

Hello all,

I just recently purchased a second HT1250 VHF portable to use. However, when I went to program it, it read fine the first time, but when i was done making the changes I needed, it won't accept the new programming. Says it all of a sudden can't find the codeplug to verify the radio can take the new programming. So what do I do??

I can use the radio, but it doesn't have all the programming that I require.

Also, now the computer won't even read the VHF HT1250 that I had prior.

What do you think happened? Thanks in advance.

Jason

Examine the accessory contacts closely on the side of the HT for any darkening of the gold plate, greenish discoloration, or other signs of dirt. Clean contacts with Deoxit ProGold or similar, then retry the read with your CPS. The gold plate is so thin on the contact areas that I wouldn't attempt cleaning with anything abrasive(pencil eraser). What's left of the goldplate will then disappear and you'll have bare copper exposed which will corrode much more quickly than the original thin gold overplate.

Change the housing with a good known radio and try it again.

Well. After getting my new programming computer, I hooked it up and it read the radio fine.. must have been just the computer issue with it.
