I have a used Astro Saber III UHF.I found out there is no any Label on the rear side.
The radio is working I think because it can display [Self Test] itself while I switch on the power. However, I do not know the frequency that program in the Radio. How can I found out what frequency is(I have not any Freq.Counter but I have RSS RVN4100U Ver:R09.01.00) The questions that I want to ask some Astro Saber ecpert user teach me : 1> How can I get the RIB, cable (Computer to RIB, RIB to Radio). 2> Can I use my RSS to reprogram the Freq, PWR, CTCSS, TX/Rx in difference Freq. DTMF etc. function? 3> Could I open the Radio housing to tried to found out some information about my Radio if I see the PCB (like the Freq range, Digital/Analog, etc. ?
Sorry for my stupid questions but I really want some good gentalmen can help me.

Astro Saber beginner.

Practically all the information you are looking for is located in the model specific information section at batlabs.com. Go there and read up on Astro Sabers and on the programming primer.

There is no benefit to opening the radio. It's better to NOT mess with it. It won't tell you anything unless you have the service manuals.

And, yes, you need the software, RIB, and cables to make any changes to any of the radio's operating modes. (Frequency, PL, etc...)

Whatever you do, certainly don't try pulling any hacking tricks on the radio. Being a beginner, you're sure to kill it if you try. Just work on basic programming first. It's enough of a handful already.

After you've read up and if you still have specific questions, feel free to post them here.

RSS version 9 SHOULD be OK with a high speed modern computer. If the radio will read OK, it should be safe.

Really, but could you tell me it only works in MSDOS mode or IBMDOS mode and doesn't work in Windows 9x, NT and Win2K. Because I found in some Web site that show the OS is only for DOS and runing in 486 computer etc.

That's all clearly stated in the programming primer. I just figured you'd read it. Sorry.
