Yes, radio can work on a ASTRO25 trunked network. You will need the ASTRO25 9600 Trunking flash option, and new host firmware of R10.72.00.

And to add, (I notice you have multikey in your current flash) AES-256 WILL NOT work with 10.72.00 host firmware. It's not supported. If you wish to use AES-256, you'll have to upgrade to the ASTRO Spectra Plus (HLN6837E) vocon. DES-XL/DES-OFB/DVP-XL will work fine with 10.72.00.

You cannot use an ASTRO Spectra on a 9600 trunked system.

You need to use a properly flashed ASTRO Spectra +, XTL2500, XTL5000 or APX7500.

You can use an ASTRO Spectra if its a 3600 astro system, just not a phase 1 P25 trunked system (9600 control channel).

Motorola was more than willing to provide us with flashes for about 1000 astro spectra 1meg radios when we were looking to upgrade to 7.x... these were not astro spectra plus radios, but old legacy astro spectras.

Are you sure? It's my understanding you just have to have the right firmware, just like as an old Digital Saber can be used to as long as it has 6.XX firmware.

Do you know for a fact the ASTRO Spectra will not operate on an ASTRO25 trunking system (9600 control channel) on 800 MHz? Or are you simply repeating information that has been told to you by other people who also do not know?

Not only will the 1MB ASTRO Spectra work on a 9600 system (800 only... VHF/UHF not supported), but it will also support a 9600 rebanded system. 10.72.00 (or higher) host firmware is required as is the G361 ASTRO25 9600 baud trunking option in the flashcode.

If you're at Dayton next year I'll be happy to show you a 1MB 9600bps ASTRO Spectra.

Actually, R10.70.00 is what's necessary to support a rebanded 9600 system on an Astro Spectra. In fact, for the MTS/MCS and Astro platforms, it was common across the board for Rxx.70(.xx) (e.g. minor revision 70) to be the official start of rebanding capable firmware. Same goes for the Astro25 pltform, R07.00.00 was the official first version to support rebanding. Motorola must really love 7's, eh?

Anyway, I think we can all agree that the OP's question has been answered.
