Minitor Replacement parts- potentiometer/volume pot

Post by abrasowski »

Looking for the part number or a resource to pick up replacement on/off volume pots for a couple minitor 4 pagers. Can't seem to find any parts in motorola's part catalog except the back cover? Maybe a second hand electronics store would sell a similar aftermarket part?

Also second question. I have one pager with extremely low audio. Checked the speaker first, that is ok. Is there a small amp that can go bad in these pagers?

Thanks

The Minitor IV volume control ON/OFF switch is Motorola Part No. 4080384S17

Other than the speaker, the next source of a low audio problem is often the volume control.

Beyond that, I recommend sending the pager to Complete Wireless Technologies, http://www.compwiretech.com

Hope that helps!

It didn't show up in the search because Motorola's description for the item is: " VOLUME/ON/OFF SWITCH"
The item description does not contain the radio name the part is for, in this case, Minitor IV. This practice is
common with Motorola part descriptions.

You can find the part described at:

https://businessonline.motorola.com/Doc ... 0PARTS.pdf

It is also listed at:

https://businessonline.motorola.com/mem ... axid=40220

If you don't have MOL, look here:

Update 8/25/10:

I soldered on a new volume on/off switch to the pager which had low volume. Still does not work :(
What I did realize though is that the volume knob on the pager has no effect on the volume of the speaker. The audio comes out steady as very low volume, regardless if you rotate the top volume knob. Whats going on with this??
Where is the "amp" that powers the speaker?

Amps generally work or don't work. If you don't have the service manual, ship it.

They were shipped to Motorola for depot repair previous to me trying to fix them.
Motorola sent them back with a fancy note saying they do not service the Minitor 4 model anymore :x

Any else have similar problems?
