I have an Astro Vehicle Adapter for my UHF Astro Saber III and am intersted in obtaining a display micraphone. Is the Astro HHCH part number is HMN4044C all I would need? What would its price range be (new/used)?

If I heard right, but dont hold it against me, my friend said that, he tried to get a display mic to, but it didnt work for the astro Saber he said, that mic only worked for the XTS MVA

But, lets see what eles other people say.

My understanding (and those of you who remember the WWWBoard days) is that there is no such beast. There might be a couple in existance in some gov't crown vic, or in some motorola employees hands, but it was never done.

People have looked, people have tired.

If your really serious about looking into it - contact Elroy Jetson.

You can read the board archives at http://radio.the161.net/~batlabs

There won't be much info there, but I remember several discussions regarding such a beast.

Good Luck, and if you do find anything out, spread the wealth :-D

Astro Vehicle Adapter Dispay Micraphone

Alex,
There is one on eBay I'm bidding on. The auction indicates that it is either for use with an Astro Saber in an AVA or with a Spectra..... It looks like the Astro Spectra HHCH. I do have Astro Saber/Spectra RSS and there is a place in the programming to identify both the radio knob/button functions and any HHCH functions. All I remember from the http://www.board/earlier Batlabs board is that a similar micraphone produced for the SVA (regular Saber Vehicle Adapter/Convertacom) reportedly never worked and was some design/marketing pipedream. I later was told that LAPD used them with their Sabers but the micraphones needed to be connected with special connectors.

I had one post in a reply here - but I took it back after reading your comments more carefully...

I'd air on the side of caution. In order for that to work you'll prob. need special firmware in the convertacom and the control head.

I just hate to see someone spend a lot of money on something like that and not get what they were hoping too...

Contact Elroy... send him a PM. He'll usually check in and get back to you rather quickly if you do, and I would thing he'd as close to the authority on the subject as anyone else.
