CDM1550LS+ 217-222 conversion to 222-225
Looking for guidance on how to convert a 217-222 CDM1550 to 222-225 for Amateur use. I believe there is a mod enabling the radio to be programmed using standard unmodified programming software after the mod is complete.
Thanks
Thanks

Talk to "Andreas" here on the board.

Here you can find the a manual for the bandsplit modifications:
www.agh-technik.bravehost.com/bandedit-en.doc
Before you do something, read and save the tuning data!
Get the russian Waris codeplugtool and read the codeplug.Modify the codeplug and program it back. You don´t need to set the serial number and retune the radio.
If it will not program the radio correctly and you get a checksum error,do this:
Convert the modified codeplug, into a S19 s-record file with Hexworkshop and delete the header in the file.Program the file with the codeplugtool from the US Waris Lab Upgradekit and set the regionalcode.Set the serialnumber and load the tuning data ,you´ve stored before, back to the radio.

Sort of on the same topic,
I have had a CDM1550LS+, on 220, that I converted to VHF 136-174 using the Waris Codeplug Tool and a old CDM750 I had kicking around....
Now I am left with a CDM750 head, and a 1550LS+ 220 chassis, obviously I would like to marry the two up so theres atleast something useful out of it, but 220 radios only came in the 1550LS+ model, is there any way to make a 4 channel 220 CDM750 with these parts?

I've only ever seen the one CDM1550LS+ 220 MHz model # listed in the TANAPA lists...Nothing lower tier. You'll need to find another 1550 head, or potentially look at modifying your 750 head so that it thinks it is a 1550.

They appear to share the same baseband, so why not program it as a 4 CH VHF and extend the upper limits of the radio to 225?

I'm encouraged by CTAMontrose's results with this project, even if he did have to break out the pain reliever. I'd like to accomplish the same thing, but I also require wide banding for my purposes. Does anyone know if it is also possible to coerce the 220 MHz CDM1550LS+ into using 25KHz channels?

I have mine doing wideband 25kHz but the issue is that there is no way to set the squelch in tuner for wideband, and the radio sits there blowing squelch if it's not programmed for PL decode.

Sounds like it would be just perfect for running data with open squelch. Thanks!d119 wrote:I have mine doing wideband 25kHz but the issue is that there is no way to set the squelch in tuner for wideband, and the radio sits there blowing squelch if it's not programmed for PL decode.
