Does anyone know how to activate the digital feature on the xp6550? It says it is a free feature.

You add a digital channel to the zone. There is no turn on or off for that, just create a digital channel and digital calls and receive groups.

When you go to write the frequencies for an individual channel, there is a blue symbol all the way to the left end of the line. One symbol is for analog and the alternate symbol is for digital. That's what determines the mode for the channel.

Ok, I added the digital channel, but when you you try and transmit on the radio it gives an error beep. I did not do anything else other than add a zone and then a digital channel with in the zone. I will try adding the digital calls and receive groups and see what happens.

No transmitting on a repeated channel without a repeater, the radio needs the timeslot reference. Can transmit digital simplex but it's only 1 timeslot

Ok that makes sense. All I need is for the radios to work simplex in digital mode. We do not have a repeater.

You also need to create a digital contact in the digital contact list and point the mode to it on the TX side, minimum.
Have you read or viewed the tutorial videos?
The video series is aptly entitled the 'WTF' Series.

Its in MOL, as a download.
The tutorial is no longer included on the CD apparently, but available separately as a download in MOL.
