Does Anyone know if/how you can turn off the preamble on a PRE MDC-ID? Very annoying sound!!

That should be selectable in the CPS. Do you have your CPS set to "Expert" mode, or "Basic"? If set to "Basic", there will be fields that you will not see, with MDC Preamble likely being one of them.
