Rotary encoder for IFR 2975?
Hi guys, A previous poster asked about the 2975, so I'll add another question for the brains trust. The Multi-function rotary encoder in my IFR2975 is skipping and is obviously worn out. It makes navigating the already difficult/ cluttered screen a nightmare, not to mention even just changing freque...

Motorola R2670 boot screen
Hi Motogurus, Does anyone know if there is a way to store the boot screen configuration in the Motorola R2670? I recently had to repair the switchmode power supply and replace the memory backup battery in my unit. After a self cal, the unit works fine, but now when I power up and the unit goes into ...

Re: General Dynamics R2590 Service Monitor (Service/Support info)
The R2550 was another Motorola 'in-house' design.
Completely different to the CSM-1000/R2590.

Re: General Dynamics R2590 Service Monitor (Service/Support info)
Interesting.. I was told that the R2590 is actually a later ( not necessarily better ) design than the R2600 series, despite the model number. The R26XX series were a Motorola 'in-house' design, whereas the R2590 design was originally produced by Link Communications in Billings, MT. I'm not sure exa...

General Dynamics R2590 Service Monitor (Service/Support info)
Hi Guys, Just wondering if there is anyone out there with any 'in-depth' knowledge of the R2590 Service monitor. I own one of these units and despite it's quirks, I still find it a handy piece of field test equipment. I know the R2590 was effectively orphaned off after GD/Motorola purchased the desi...

Re: General Dynamics R2590 Sinad calibration question
Thanks guys. Actually, when I looked closer at the specs on the R2950, they are pretty poor. For example, the RF generate output level accuracy is only specified to +-4dB and the Sinad meter accuracy specified to +-1dB. So, while the R2590 Service monitor is giving relatively inaccurate Sinad readin...

General Dynamics R2590 Sinad calibration question
Hi guys, I'm really struggling to find any information on my R2590. I'm located in Australia, which doesn't help of course since the local Motorola solutions who used to service this unit, no longer support it and there are no other 'local' service agents. Anyway, I'm wondering if there is a R2590 g...

Re: Yaesu betting on C4FM for AR
You know, this may be the first manufacturer produced documentation (anywhere) that admits that analogue FM can actually have the edge over digital modes in weak signal areas. This is amazing! Good on you Yaesu for telling it like it is.. Finally, a vendor that doesn't spruik the usual <careful> abo...

Is it possible to use a standard DB25 - DB25 parallel extension lead to extend the W3?

XTL5000 W3 Display Talkgroup in scan?
Hi guys, I'm sure there is someone on here that knows the answer to this question.. I have a W3 controller mic on my XTL5000. One of the zones is programmed to scan 3x local P25 trunking sites in conventional mode. Each site contains four voice channels, giving a total of 12 channels (full capacity)...
