Hi guys, I'm sure there is someone on here that knows the answer to this question..
I have a W3 controller mic on my XTL5000. One of the zones is programmed to scan 3x local P25 trunking sites in conventional mode. Each site contains four voice channels, giving a total of 12 channels (full capacity) in the scan bank.
The radio firmware is R13 so I know it is a bit dated now.
Anyway, the scan works fine and allows me to monitor all activity on those three trunking sites (If I only monitor the closest site, I miss out on a lot of traffic as it does not always have mobile radios associated with it).
My question: Is it possible to display the talkgroup ID and preferably a talkgroup alias when scanning voice channels like this?
I have enabled the talkgroup alias function and the 'Display ID' function, however, when I receive a signal, the display only shows the longer individual unit ID number. I am not concerned with individual unit ID's and would rather display the Agency alias/name on the screen.
I know the W3 display is a bit limited in what it can display, so maybe this is the problem.
Incidentally, the squelch is set to DCSQ, so this may also cause problems..
There does not even seem to be an RSSI / Signal strength indicator on the W3 - Is there??
Thanks guys.
I'm a newbie as you can tell..
