Hi, I've looked at a briefly written service manual on Asian market and
did not find anything on the model number which particularly states
DTMF options. So, I guess you still need to enable it via RSS.

I don't know what is the latest version, but you need GP300/GP280 216MHz RSS to program those radios. The part number is PMVN4003E (Version 2.16 on Sep 98). You might be able to find one, if you look around in .cn domain.

Use Tool Kit
If GP300 RSS doesn't work, one can always use Tool Kit to throw a compatible codeplug into GS300 to work as a GP300. Although it requires some degrees of modification, the unit is capable of handling 16 channels, if you add channel selector switch (BCD code).

GS300 can be programmed with GP300 RSS
GS300 can be programmed with GP300 RSS! If you have a GP300 schematic, you will find that the design is pretty much the same as GP300.
(except it uses Mitsubishi TX module.)
