Re: HT1000 Background Noise Issue

To me, it sounds like the Jedi microphonics issue: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=61634

Or this old thread: http://batboard.batlabs.com/viewtopic.php?t=55273

Probably will be difficult to obtain the official noise kit from Motorola but you might be able to find one somewhere, or follow ...

Re: JT 1000

1st step would be to search the board under 'Jedi Microphonics' and see if your radio fits the date block of a known issue that causes transmit problems such as you describe.

Re: JT1000 JEDI Microphonics -mic noise?

The Microphonics kit is for most Jedi radios, and not frequency range dependent.

Some times just doing the cleaning of the board edges where the board contacts the frame and isolating one of the ground tabs will clear the noise up.

I see a kit on eBay. User has it listed as a HT1000/VHF. Is this model and band specific or is the kit used for all flavors of HT1000/Jt1000?

REX4465A but I recall postings where some had successful repairs without the kit, they addressed the bad grounding issues by soldering the shields. Probably still in the archives.

The microphonics kit above is the official fix for the Jedi TX noise problem (had several of my own do it). Its easy to reproduce, just "twist" the housing a bit while TX and you'll get loud scratchy sounds over the TX audio.
