Anyone know if the short SP-50+ is a direct
fit into the larger SP-50 standard case ?
The small 9044 battery just doesn't make it for high power use. (Don't see why they call this short model the plus, in actuality it's less !)

Ed,
Do you know if the circuit board is the same size ? What I was looking to do is take
the board out of a SP50+ and put it into a
SP50 standard housing to gain the additional
battery capacity. Voltage on the 2 batteries
is the same so if it will physically fit (?)
into the housing looks like it would work.
Thanks,
Jim

you can put it into an SP50 Compact case. but not a standard. you might be able to to fit it in a standard if you get some type of spacer to take up all the extra space

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I don't have a SP-50 standard to look at but from the past I recall there's at least 1" gap between the bottom of the PCB and bottom of the housing, as Ed mentions there's about a 1" difference in the length of the 2 radios externally. So I'm thinking the PCB's for the
plus and standard are the same, just different length housings with different capacity batteries. Trying to see if anyone
can verify before I send 'M' about $80. for the longer housing and higher cap. battery.

I remember the main board being the same, the contacts for the battery charging and programming will need to be changed. You will also need a new battery door, labels for the top and front and a grill cloth for the speaker.
