Forcing a FFFF or 65535 radio ID into a trunking MTS2000

Is there anyway to force a 65535 or FFFF individual radio ID into a MTS2000 so that it does not transmit on a trunking system? The software will only accept up to FFFE or 65534. Thanks

if it is a closed system(not all IDs turned on by default)FFFE should be ok on non smartzone systems.
Who has that a system loaded up that much they will uae this ID?
also remove ptt switch popple and clip legs on pa mod.,turn off auto aff.

Not being a trunking expert -

But I would tend to stick with the trend that something like FFFF would probably cause a problem with a system, since FFFF is usually used as a broadcast address.

It would be my suggestion that if there are issues with using that kind of address could be harmful to a system, that this discussion not continue here.

I could be wrong, but If this is questionable in the above way, it's not worth discussing here.

There are some neighboring systems that I just want the radios to monitor while still being able to use the primary system. I know that the neighboring systems do not recognize the FFFF radio is, so I was hoping to program in that ID in those system setups to prevent accidental keyups. The MTSX software will not allow a radio ID to go higher than the 65534 or FFFE. Was hoping that there was a way around that.

The radio will still try to affiliate no matter what ID you put into that field. On an open system, you will be able to talk on whatever channel you put in. Of course you will definitely draw attention to yourself and your radio become the target of a remote kill.

The best way to do it is to use a high ID AND configure the 2-position switch for TX_INHIBIT. If you're not wanting to transmit at all, flip the switch and you're set.

Really, if you are a legit user on your system, you should contact the admins of the other systems and get their permission. They will most likely give you an ID of your own or give you a "media ID" that is disabled so that you can legitimately listen. If your radio is ever stolen, they can disable the ID in the future. Most departments in my area cooperate in this manor, there are exceptions....

Portables such as the MTS2000 cannot be programmed to use 'FFFF' as a talkgroup...because that is designated as a 'system wide transmit' talkgroup. Only 'Base Station' capable radios such as MCS2000, Astro Spectra, etc... can use 'FFFF' as a legit talkgroup. As well, the 'Sys' parameter in the Central Site Controller must be set to 'Y' in order for the 'FFFF' talkgroup to function. So, some systems have it as a valid ID, and some don't. It's NOT a good way to try & avoid transmitting on a given trunked system...and in some cases, will give you FAR more trouble than you bargained for!
