HI, I have a Maratrac low band radio interfaced to a UHF pac-rt and it has worked well for about two years with NO problems at all. Now, for about the past month, when I talk through my UHF HT1000 radio into the pac-rt and it then gets re-broadcasted through the Maratrac onto lowband, the audio sounds extremely muffled. Almost as if I was covering my mouth when I talk. I have already tried replacing the speaker mic on the HT1000 radio and also have checked the freq. output with a counter to make sure that something did not get wacked out with the HT1000's tx freq. I think the next step will be trying a different radio such as an HT600 I have in place of the HT1000 radio.

The problem, from what I can tell is not evident 100% of the time, more like 80% of the time, so it gets somewhat hard to tell when it's happening and when it's not.

Nothing was changed in the setup of the radios from day #1 so I would venture to think that either there is a "new" problem with the PAC_RT unit, or maybe there is something wrong with the HT1000 radio.

Oh, one more thing, the HT1000 radio receives the re-transmitted audio from the maratrac through the PAC-RT just fine, so it's only when I talk that there is a problem.

ANy help would be appreciated before I have to start digging into the units and bench check everything.

Thanks very much.

Two things come to mind, is there anything draging down the mic line on the Maratrac, and did you check the connector(s) between the two?
Could be corrosion in the connector(s).

I had a similar problem in a company truck and it was caused by a wet & coroded mic connector.

Hi Will & Caruso, Thanks for the reply.
I don't believe that there could be anything dropping the mic but I will un plug it from the c/h and see how it goes from there,

I will also be testing with another portable (ht600) tomorrow morning so I will let you all know how I make out.
