How to tell freq range on loband Radius....?

Is there a way to look at the entire motorola model number and tell from one of the many digits buried in it what the frequency range is on a low band Radius??? I am looking for a 16 channel (or more) low band, low split (29-37mhz) Radius to program up for 10 meter FM for the car. I already know about going in to the radio and looking at the number on the board in the radio...however, this is impossible when looking at a radio on Ebay, for instance. Does anyone know of a way to identify which frequency range a D51 Radius is in by the model???

Nope. The three ways are:

1) Read it with RSS

2) Crack it open and look

3) Transmit with a freq counter on nearby.

Thanks to w7com for the speedy reply. I was afraid this might be the case. However, one can always hope!!! Ha ha!!! I can't open the radio when it is still offered for auction on Ebay. Thanks for the confirmation.

Run the FCC ID number and it will tell you as well.

ive run 2 radius mobiles and a maxtrac already and all of them have come back as "29.7 - 50.0" from the FCC...

Hello:
What Grem467 said was the FCC Id number came back as a spread of 29.7 to 50 mhz.
Which covers all three band splits.
So if that is the case then you still can`t determine the exact freq split per the FCC Id number.
Split 1 = 29.7 - 36 mhz.
Split 2 = 36 - 42 mhz.
Split 3 = 42 - 50 mhz.
So still no joy.

Yeah, it's a good general source to put you into the band. Don't know why the FCC would certify a device for purity, stability, etc.
in the area of a band that an individual radio can't even attain. On the up side it does provide some legitimacy to out of band hacks.
