More Saber Questions

Post by billy7834 »

I know that a 2K Saber II can do 48 channels and the 8K does 120. I got a hold of a Saber II/III operating manual. It talks about up to 72 channels for a Saber II and 120 for Saber III. My question is: Where does the 72 number come into play? Thanks.

The Saber 2 72 channel radio was an SP radio from what I reme, ber.
There was a guy on Ebay a while back who had a few he was selling , his Ebay name was Railcom. I had a 72 channel codeplug and programmed it into a 48 channel radio with no problems.

Hello Frank...Thanks for responding. What does SP mean? Interesting that you can force a 72 ch codeplug into a 48 ch 2k radio. Any chance you could force a 120 into a 72 or a 48?

Not a chance, SP being "Special Production" , at one time I beleive Memphis PD had some 72 channel Sabers in service. 72 channels is all you will get into a 2k EEprom and that's without scan. the 72 channel Sabers were just 2k Sabers with a 72 channel codeplug. I am sure someone out there has one of the codeplugs you could get.
