SABER-S 1 vs SABER 1 regular , DIFFERENCE?

I recently acquired two saber I radios vhf.

One is a securenet-S and one is just the regular model.

What are the differences and what advantages are there in a 6D core vs. a 5D core?

Any ideas?

The 6D will do QCII signalling, and the RAT buttons are progrommable. There may be other things but I didn't check the book, I am just relying on my memory.

Are you saying that the -S version means that the radio has a 6D core, or an 8D one?

I've never been sure about the meaning of the -S, but it MIGHT mean 'Stat-Alert' signalling, come to think of it...

No, i dont think so. I have two Securenet-S radios, and they are both 5D.

I may be wrong, but I beleive the S means it is submersible.
