Subaru WRX STi?

Post by Jay911 »

Hey all,

I'm replacing the F150 in the spring, and one of the vehicles on my short list is the Subaru WRX STi sedan. I'm looking to put the following in the car: either my Jedi convertacom -or- my dash-mount MCS2000, and most likely a Uniden base/mobile scanner (BC796D). Also a GPS unit, but I think that's going to be fairly easy in comparison.. it's a handheld Garmin unit with a dash mount.

Anyway, the radios. Has anyone done anything like this before? Am I setting myself up for a hell of a job, or is this not doable at all?

Thanks in advance..

Currently I have a Relm scanner (all in dash), Icom Dualband ham (remote head), touchtronics switch panel all mounted in the dash. I took out the stock head unit and replaced it with a standard sized alpine one, that was the godsend...getting rid of that giant head unit.

On the backside of my center console, I have a Jedi MTVA mounted, and the amp is under the passenger seat, along with a strobe pack.

Under the drivers side, I have the brain for the Ham which is using a remote head, power distribution, and airhorn/PA amp.

So it's definitely possible...you just need to take your time...wire management is definitely important!
