2002 Impala 9C1 Project start...

Post by grinthock »

Well, next to funding, the project will be starting end of next week. Anyone else engaged a this series of Impala for upgrades? The vehicle is a true 9C1, and i'm looking to do a few things, the radio project being the first.

What consoles (pics are good too) have people here used in Impala?

I have an 800 Spectra, i'm planning to pickup a Kenwood D700 and eventually either an Astro VHF Spectra or a Digital Bearcat.

Is remote mounting required? I have the remote mount cable, but i'm missing the brackets (both for the radio end, and the display end) for the 800 (anyone have any spare?)

Thanks

Stan has a nice install, very similar to what I plan to install in my Impala -IF- I can ever get the insurance to pay me for my totaled Monte Carlo so I can buy an Impala!

I'm not planning to do any remote mounting, but the Jotto Desk console looks like its certainly the way to go.

If you have bucket seats, (which I think a 'true' 9C1 does; the last link is for a 9C3 admin car I believe) I would recommend the Lund console, it works great, goes in very easy and has a lot of room work work with. I have been using the LI-900-000 and have been very happy with them.

If you want some pics of an installed lund console look at post

This is a full blown squad and probably has more in it (ie cage and mdt) that you might want in a personal vehicle, but it gives you a good idea.

Cost?

Any idea if there are better prices than the Jotto Desk online? I do like that Console, or even a Canadian Dealer would be great.

Just don't get the Contour Console from Gall's- the charge $30.00 MORE THAN FACTOR MSRP!

Jotto Desk

I spoke with the Jotto Desk Canada rep, he says that it's $303 Canadian shipped, not a bad price, that comes with 12 inches of faceplates of my choice as well.

Does anyone have a complete wiring diagram of the special wiring harnesses that are put in the 9C1 vehicles?

Go to the KERR industries website, they have it online in PDF format.
