What radios do you own?: XTSs

Post by kyledooley »

Now I'm a newbie so I apoligize if some of this is a known quantity. I've already searched and done a lot of reading and there are still a few questions I have.

Goal: Use an MTX8000 as a ruggedized scanner. 3 different public safety systems. Hobbist only so no X-mit required or wanted. Rx only.

I have: Radio, system info such as system ID#s, frequencies (or channels if you will) and the Talkgroup IDs I wish to listen to.

Can someone point me in the direction of where I can get this programmed to my liking? I have considered doing it myself, but that seemed a bit too involved for my skill level and what I was willing to spend.

The other question, that has not been adequately answered in the forums is the necessity of the system key if you are only going to receive. Do you really need it? I have spoken to a couple of people who have programmed GTX portables for Rx only on their local systems without a key. Unfortunatley they do not have the RSS for an MTX and couldn't help me.

Any info on how I can get this done would be appreciated. Anyone who may want to tackle this for me, please feel free to contact me directly. [email protected]

Thanks all.

K.
