Hey folks,

I've got a 6 slot jedi charger that upon putting the battery(or radio) in one of the slots, the charge light comes on, then begons blinking. This was given to me because the owner was told that it could not be repaired. Anyone out there have any experience with this and if possible any ideas how to repair?

Thanx in advance

Some of the dual rate 6 gang chargers used individule boards from the desk top charger in them. If so you can replace just the board from a desk top charger. I know that on the GP300 series rapid single unit desk top chargers there is a replacement charger without the transformer because big // says they are NOT repairable!
If I have a roadmap, I can fix em.

If it's a Jedi series gang charger, then it's a single board. The great thing about those units is the fact there's 6 separate, identical charge circuits. Makes comparsion troubleshooting a breeze. Generally, the blinking red light indicates a problem with the "sense" lead. I've seen it be as simple as a dirty charge contact, or a broken wire on that lead, hopefully you're that lucky. I've seen them come that way from other shops "unrepairable", it's obvious the unit wasn't even looked at or opened. Other times it's a result of liquid being spilled through one of the pockets. Cleaning the corrossion may or may not fix the problem in that case, depending on the severity. Open it up, take a look at the board & pocket wires, you never know!

Hi:

The " Blinking " can also be attributed
to a poor battery with a low charge.

If the Charger senses a more than pre-determined amont of charge current ( a short
for example ) it will attempt to begin a charge cycle.

If the current does not drop, then the red
light will start to blink.

Any Lights that stay on with no battery
inserted is a indication of a faulty charger.

So long as the charger goes through the
start up test OK, all lights on from one
pocket to another, and then will all go out
that is a good indication the charger is OK.

I have many HT1000 batteries that will no
longer charge properly, but will work for a
short time.

In general that's true, but I've seen many of those chargers that pass the LED "wake-up" test, and still have a problem with a single pocket. I assumed he had tried more than one battery, and that the batteries also were charging fine in the other 5 pockets.

I haven't taken it down yet, but it does go thru the self check and the charge light comes on steady for a second or so, then starts flashing. My battery is new and charges ok in the single chargers. This also occurs on all the other banks. I'll take it down within the next day or so and look for some of the items that y'all have mentioned. Once again, THANX BUNCHES!!!
