Multiple (2+) Syntor X/X9000 Installation Photos?

Post by SlimBob »

I'm looking for pictures of a multiple (2-3) Syntor X/X9000 installation. Is there any way to stack the radios, or would it be best just to have them flat across the back deck? Is there any problem with mounting them upside down?

When I had the three in my truck I had them stacked on top of each other. I mounted the floor tray with short bolts to the lid of the one beneath it. Since only the top one was 100watts it didn't have a problem cooling. The middle one was RX only and the bottom one was a 40watt radio and I never felt it get hot. You could always build a small box so you could have maybe 2" or so of space between the two radios. I'll IM you next time I'm on.. we never seem to meet up :P

What radios do you own?: APX / Astro 25 / Harris

I believe Motorol made a stacking kit bracket for the X9000 and the Spectra. Don't know if its still available.

The spectra one is still available for at least the low/mid power radios'. I never heard or saw one for the x9000's, but I am sure there could be one.

Ooh... part numbers? Any available pictures?

I've got 5 ea. in two vehicles (all mid-power), and I'd really love to be able to stack them...

I have 2 "stacking" or mounting trays for full size Spectra/Maratrac. Someone look up this number:

07D06189T04

It's the only number I can find on the one I am getting ready to use (the other one is already in the Bronco).

By the way, it fits over the top of an already-mounted Spectra. It forms a "canopy" over that unit, and the second one bolts on the top (or inside, upside down if you wish) of the canopy.
__
Looks like this: _/ \_

It has slotted screw holes on the side so you can place the screws (not tightened all the way), place the bottom Spectra mounting plate, then this unit fits over it, slot the screws in the holes and tighten. The second Spectra can then be mounted on top, or upside down inside the top.

Hope this helps, and that the number is the correct one. It's stamped into the unit.

The siren box can be easily mounted to a lid of an x9k. A bunch of x9k's I got from a PD had the siren boxes mounted in this fashion.

yes, but I do so detest drilling a radio to mount something else to it. They aren't MIL-810C for a reason, ya know?

stacking X9K radios

Post by Mike in CT »

My company 99 Suburban war wagon has 4 X9K's drawers in it. (stacked two and two), with double sided heavy duty velcro.

Been that way since 1999, and there has never been a problem (heating, loosening or otherwise).

I would have rathered a Corvette with a Spectra buried somewhere, but that's another story.

When I worked for Bearcom, we pulled these out of government vehicles all the time. About 2 months before I left, I gurantee we cleaned out the shop and threw about 150 of those in the dumpster.

Man, I should have kept them and made some money. :D

Plenty of time for radio play, what with doing under the speed limit, everywhere.
