Can Centracom II hardware be used with a CEB that is going to be upgraded to Centracom Gold Elite? The FD may want our old one, and if so, is might be a nice to give them the old stuff, if it will work. Right now they are using tone remotes for their radio's thru the CEB, and I thought it might be nice to give them the old stuff.

Some of the parts in a CCII are compatible in a Gold / Elite system. CEB power supplies [except for the very early ones] and card cages are. Dual receive modules are also directly compatible.

BIM cards come in several versions. Newer cards, e.g. C & D suffix, simple need new firmware and can be reused. The A & B suffix cards won't take the new Gold firmware so they have to be replaced. However, having the old stuff could still be of value if Motorola is still offering trade in credit pricing on new replacement BIMS.

Operator position electronics [CRT CIE] are not upgradeable and of course the op cards [OMI, TOMI] must be replaced with Gold COIM cards.

Your Motorola Field Engineer that is assigned to the project will have an 'Upgrade Planner' that will answer all specific upgrade questions.
