Having problems receiving status messaging with MCS2000 and CDM1550. It seems that we are sending the messages but they are not showing up on the receiving radio??
We are able to call alert/select call without a problem.
Normally, MDC Status & Message can only be decoded by a dispatch console such as a Centracom. That being said, apparently the latest firmware version will allow the CDM1550 to do the same thing. So, how old is the CDM you have? Perhaps a firmware upgrade will fix you up. This is assuming you have the CPS set up properly, ensure MDC Status & Message decode is enabled.
If it's the MCS2000 you're talking about, it won't do it.

Well, it should certainly do it then, from what I've heard (never actually seen it). You could send me a copy of the codeplug to look at, perhaps I'll see something you've missed?
Or, try giving Motorola a call on Monday, make them earn your money!
So this is not like the old sabers and spectras that you could send status and messages back and forth. We did that all the time from saber to saber or saber to spectra.Since our equipment changes ie: mcs2000, ht1250 and cdm1550 we can not seem to get it to work..even on the old spectra. So do you all think it is not possible or just a programming error??
Thanks
Charlie
I checked his codeplug, I can't see anything wrong with the programming. Unless there's a conflict? Just about every MDC feature is enabled. Perhaps try dumping your factory original codeplug back into the unit (if you have it), and program it with one channel, and a single MDC system. Only enable what's required for Message & Status, don't bother with things like "emergency recieve", "remote monitor", etc. See what happens.
I've used maratracs,,maxtracs, radius's, and Sabers to decode MDC signals. There is a selection in the options page for 'console' and decode. both should be enabled.

Good luck
I believe you are referring to regular MDC encode/decode & display. His problem involves the MDC Status & Message features, which is different altogether.

You don't want to enable console though - if you do, your radio will acknoledge emergency signals. IF that happens, calls for help that might be life or death might not get caught by the dispatch console.
Hit F1 to read what this option does, and be careful!

I am having the same issue with Status and messaging with a CDM1550. I can't seem to get it to decode. It says it is sending them but never do we recieve the message on the display!
The New HT1250 Versions has a Status / Message, but does not work either.. My thought was its only for a dispatch console. My Friend has a CDM 1550 we will check it out.
That would be great. Let me know if you can figure out anything. Something that used to be very simple on System Sabers is much harder to figure out with these newer radios.
