Maratrac to 6 Meters

Post by BJMCDANIEL »

In trying to take a 50 mHz Maratrac to 52 mHz (using the short version), I managed to ruin the VCO slugs. This is not an old radio, and I was surprised to see that the parts are no longer listed with the local MSS. Seems like the waitress at the donut shop told me that there is an equivalent part available through Digi-Key. Any one have a clue as to what that part number may be? Any success stories out there using the "short version" conversion to 6M?

All I did was a slight tweak on the VCOs with acceptable results.
(and the rss hack to allow freqs)
Try the Maxtrac book for part numbers, the RF boards should be the same.

/\/\ changed the way they mfgr. the VCO coils due to microphonics. Almost any "slug" will work, wev'e even used iron screws for the normal range and brass ones to go higher in frequency.
I remember Seth, (sglass) using stainless, non magnetic set screws on his six meter Maratrac.
