I am looking for opinions on the best charger to be mounted in our fire trucks for MT2000 portables. We would be getting up to 15 of them. We need something that would not overcharge batteries. We leave our trucks plugged in so the chargers would be powered when the trucks were not in use.
Is there anything out there with timers?
Please let me know what you think. Thanks
Mobile Charger recommendations for MT2000

From what I understand, rapid chargers might be your best bet. They will charge to a certain capacity, and then trickle charge the battery so that it is up to capacity, and the charge remains. The slow chargers will keep charging until the cows come home. Another advantage to having the rapid chargers is that you could charge a spare battery or two while your working on a scene. Takes about 1-1.5 hours. That would be my suggestion.

I would strongly recommend against using rapid chargers. We had a gang charger in our rescue truck that was a rapid charger. The problem is every time you unplug and plug the truck back in you restart the rapid charge cycle. It was cooking batteries in no time. We have since switched to 12volt overnight chargers and have an instation conditioner that all the batteries get cycled through every 6 months. We have greatly extended the life cycle of our batteries this way..
