Has anyone changed an MT2000 to an MTS2000? I have a VHF MT2000 A4 and I want to make it an MTS2000 top display, 48 channel radio. I really want to be able to decode MDC IDs on the top display. Just wondering if this is possible. Thanks for any help.

Changing MT2000 to MTS2000

What you would have to do is order a MTS controler, and ask for what you want, and see how much of it they will put in without charging you... Don't call up and give them a flashcode, or there's not much of a chance that the'll give you that. From what I hear, you should say I want QCII, MDC Encode/Decode, Status/Messaging, etc...On 2002-03-12 12:52, craig wrote:

You can then take the MT2000 controler out, and put in the MTS2000 controler, realign/tune the radio, and your ready to go. You can probably find a full A7 front on ebay for around 30-50 bucks. Since your going to be paying $300+ for the controler, then you might as well go all the way....
I was thinking about doing this, but instead I got a HT1550

Oh - keep in mind you'll need the very very newest MTS2000 software to read the controler.... This is all providing you buy one direct from Motorola.

Thanks for the reply alex. I am thinking about doing this or trading my MT for an MTS. The trouble is, I don't see many VHF MTS2000s around. I really want an MTS2000 top display, so that I can see the decoded IDs without removing the radio from my belt. I have not seen an MTS2000 top display decode IDs, does anyone know if they can do it, or do I have to have the full blown B7 version?
