Windows 2000 and 1225 software

Post by perthcom »

Hi
I've searched the archives to see if anyone has asked this before, but there wasn't anything found.

Our old desktop programming computer has died, so we have replaced it with a newer unit running Windows 2000 Professional.

All our windows based software runs fine except the 1225 series. The program runs, but when programming or reading a radio, it gives the error that it cannot communicate with the radio (Check and RIB is powered up, cables etc). If you disconnect the RIB, it says it cannot find the RIB, so obviously it sees the RIB, but not the radio.

Has any come accross this before? Motorola is no help.

Thanks
:-?

While 1225 software is a Windows program, I believe it is actually based on the old 16 bit Win 3.1 stuff, and probably will have the same sort of problems the DOS RSS has running on newer computers.

1225 RSS is definitely a no-go on Win 2K or XP.

ME is 3.1/9x Based, not NT like XP and 2k.

Yeah, the 1225 RSS cannot capture the COM port in Win2k or XP. We had to set up our new DELL laptops with a Win98/Win2k dual boot config for that very reason.
