Hello there,
I'm not really up with trunking to much except i know its somthing that can slow things down for people and be a bit more complex then conventional but what is Privacy Plus? And what type of Trunking can an MTX838 Privacy Plus radio do? I hear it can do Type I and Type II, and i think maybe even Type IIi. Is this true? And if its a privacy plus radio why can it also do Type II? I thought it was a Privacy Plus not Smartnet.
Thanks for your help...again

MTX838 Trunking Question

Almost all MTX838 "B3" models (no display or keypad) are Type I trunking only, which is referred to as "Privacy Plus" trunking. Any "B5" limited keypad & "B7" full keypad models I have seen are Type I/II/IIi capable. As per the BatLabs model specific page, there are a few "B3" models that came from the factory as Type II capable, and any "B3" model can be "upgraded" with LAB and a "B5" or "B7" codeplug, although the display/keypad won't work.On 2002-03-11 01:43, Nickdap wrote:

Actually as far as Type II B3 MTX's being 'rare', I can tell you that we have sold literally three thousand+ of them over the last five or six years (this is not an exaggeration) to various customers, in all three bands, with different splits, and most of them were B3's, and the rest of them B5's. There was a small quantity of b7's as well. sorry for going off topic..
Hey Guys, Ive been reafirmed that my MTX838 can do all three types (I, II, IIi) is this consistant with this models history? This is a (hardly used) ex county fire radio that was used for conventional only and never hacked. Also it's an AN series. Another thing i found was a copy of a code plug shows the radio can do at least type II, and IIi.
Anymore input?
edit--------
