Is anyone using 1225 v3.2 on Windblows XP Pro?
I can't get it to work properly. Works just fine on 98.

Lie to program about Windows Version to Make Excuteable.
As some of you might remember ,there USED to be a feature in Windows allowing one to "lie" to a particular program about what version of Window it was being actually being executed under. E.g. - a win 3.11 program you could "lie" under win95/98 and make that program think it was still in 3.11.
This feature was 'mkcompat.exe' and was part of Windows for several generations. I think it was done away with in ME but was definately not present in Win2k.
As an answer for this feature being removed from 2k/XP/2k3, I have found this program " Resplendence Resolver " will make run various programs that are not "compatible" with 2K/XP.
On more than one occasion this program has worked when nothing else short of an O/S rollback has......I do not have any P1225 RSS but perhaps a trial download would do the trick- give it a try- it claims to be free. Oh yeah, I have no interest in this company in any shape or form. Just a product that works for me. It really saved my back 40 with some old accounting software that now runs fine under XP. Here is the link.

Here is an old KB article on mkcompat.exe for those with any historical interest.

Actually, there is a workaround for this problem in XP, too. Open "My Computer", or Windows Explorer, to the address of the program in question. Right click on the .exe file of the problem program, select properties, and click on the "Compatibility" tab at the top of the window. Once here, you can select from a list to make the program think it is being run under Win95, Win98/ME, WinNT4.0, or Win2K. I have had mixed sucess with the compatibility wizard. Works for some programs, not for others. I haven't tried it with 1225 RSS yet, but I intend to in the near future. BTW, although it says in the documentation that comes with the 1225 RSS that it will run in Win3.1 or Win95, I have never been able to get it to run under Win3.1. I always have to go up to Win95.

The 'Win98 compatibility mode' in XP didn't work for me. The software itself runs just fine, it just can't capture the COM port. I don't understand why the MTR2000 RSS works fine in Win2k, it's the same 'vintage' RSS as the 1225 series. I'm going to look into the Resplendence Resolver software, but suspect it won't work either, since the RSS runs. It's a com port issue.
