mcs 2000 fail error

I have an MCS 2000 that has an intermittant problem. It come up with "fail 01/90" I haven't seen this myself because it is go everytime the unit is brought in. Anyone know what it means?

SEND IT TO MOTOROLA FOR FLASH UPGRADE. THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THOSE RADIOS.

A flash upgrade ain't gonna fix a power problem! I know of 8 MCS2000's that burnt holes thru the PC board because of faulty power supplies.

Call your Moto rep first as the department that had the 8 above ended up with a tech from Schaumburg coming out and is replacing the whole fleet (10) for nothing.

(I'm thinking, Motorola did this? wow! and we all thought that they were starting to suck!)

The service manual lists it as "Fatal Hardware Fault - Defective IC". Doesn't say which IC though...
