If you are not using TRUNKED will MTSXLAB RSS toolproof the radio if you "add personality" past 48 ch? I don't use trunking systems and it seems like all the TOOLPROOF error discusions revolve around use with TRUNKING. Like changing systems or system keys? I am not very familiar with trunking, though I do know how they work basicly.
I have an H01RDD9PW1BN top display MTS2000. The service manual show this to be a 16 mode radio, but the regular RSS shows MAX MODES = 48, and I have seen 250+ mode radios.
So, If I "add Personality" past 48 modes will it TOOLPROOF or is that only if it is trunked? The TOOLPROOF section seems only to mention TRUNKED systems.
I have read and written via LAB and the read / written via 6.04. with perfect results. I only prog'ed it with 16 modes, one zone. The radio reads out svc vers 1.12 in the display test mode.
What is this radio capable of as far as number of modes go?

You don't need LAB to get to 48 channels. You want to program the A-B-C toggle switch for zone operation. Zone 1 = A, Zone 2 = B, etc.

No, you won't toolproof a radio with that firmware/software version with lab. But toolproofing has nothing to do with trunking at all. It was an attempt to keep people from using propietary tools to upgrade their radios. If you take a late model MTS2000 that is only capable of conventional operation, read it in lab, change nothing and write back to it, you have toolproofed your radio - that simple.

As far as adding modes past 48 on a top display radio - that dosen't work since you have no way of accessing the modes past 48. That hack only works on full and limited keypad radios with a display.

OK.
Then i can go ahead and add the rest of the freq's I need. I thought that I had read all the threads on tooproofing, but was not clear as to what option(s) if changed would kill the radio.
Thanks for your speedy replies, I appreciate your time.
