stupid new supervisor truck.

Post by Gerbil »

(and since i'm a lazy ass, i'm going to just copy what andy's already said about it somewhere else.)

We've got a new supervisor truck. Its a Ford Escape.

6 strobe, 2 front LED, 6 LED rear arrowstick edge 9m bar

Hidaways in clear corners, and taillights plus 2 strobes in the rear window on one whelen 6x90

Grille, fender and side window strobes are on another whelen 6x90

Dual red talon in the front window, and dual amber MM slimlighter in the rear window.

Anyway. Supervisor comes to me and my partner today as we were getting off a call, says that the lights are too damn dim.
My partner
(that would be me) walks over and fires it up, and everything seems to work fine. However, last night, the bar and front strobes seemed overpowered by the talon.

We're going to go take a look at it as soon as we're done with lunch. Oh... i almost like this little Escape. It almost seems bigger inside then my cherokee.

what a bunch of ass-clowns.

The stupid :o ing installers wired the low power wires to the PARKING LIGHTS FREAKING RELAY.

Which means when the parking lights (or the headlights) are on, the bar and one of the power supplies are on low power mode.

Yeah. f'in brilliant. First off, the county mandates HEADLIGHTS ON response. Plus our company policy says headlights on while in service.

Ugh. these idiots. I'm pissed off.
Well, that and stupid andy kicked over my lemonade when he was crawling under the car.

thats what the bean counters get for letting the dealership install the equipment... instead of paying for a professional.

Just as an FYI.... The first flash of most patterens is the highest flash you will get. The rest will be equal, less intensity flashes. You normally can't tell by looking at the lights, but pull the truck up in front of a garage or wall etc, and watch the flashback.

Putting the bar in to low power mode makes all 4 flashes of the same intensisty as the high powered 3 flashes after the first.

Again, this depends on the flash pattern selected.

We use action flash on the hidaways, moduflash on the grille and fender strobes, and comet on the bar. red forward LEDs on the edge are steadyburn.
Front talon is on the signalalert/steady, rear slimlighter is on the standard wigwag.

and i'll see about taking a camera to work saturday.

LED's don't have the power limitiation, just strobes :) I use action (sequencial) flash for my remote strobes, and I find that I like the microburst III flash for the bar in the front only mode. I use the SC version so depending on what mode I am in, I have it set to do a different pattern. Anytime I hit the MAN button on the controller, the strobes/LED/takedowns/alleys all do something different. Longburst looks cool if you have a fully loaded bar...what I did with all our crusiers it to set them to action scan...bars and power supplies. That looks sharp.

flip a switch, stuff blinks...patterns and such to me seem to be too many choices. i don't know the differences nor care, more importantly the public dosent either. so, switch goes on, lights flash, people ignore it anyway (and this thing i drive has a LOT of lights and two speakers from what i am told).

hehehe

public doesn't care if we are runnig code or not (until it their life on the line) they still pass us like we are on bricks.
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.
