Small LED Lights

Post by Flametamer »

Which Small LED lights work the best?

TIR3 from Whelen

or

LED Stars from 911ep

or another brand that I'm overlooking?

Also what is a good flasher for these?

the Sho-me hyperbright LED's are also excellent. I have used them many times with excellent results.

I have used both and clearly prefer the Whelen. The lense optics on the W provide much better angle than the 911ep and I believe they are also a few bucks cheaper (not to mention that no matter what color, cept for clear, is all the same price w/Whelen).

For some of the 911ep models and all the Whelen units, you will not need a flasher as there is an internal one ....
Here is a demo vid: http://www.lshlights.net/video/Whelen/TIR3.HTM

Good luck - let us know what you end up doing...what application would this be for?

The Whelen #500TIR6 is, so far, the ticket for small LEDs with alot of punch. Drawback: they suck at any angle other than about 15 degrees of center, otherwise, they're bright as all hell and are small. I just did an 8 light system on the side of an engine and you can't miss it. Yes....I said Whelen! (of course, there are Tomar RECT series 3x7" LEDs on the front and rear)

:o I just choked on my dinner.

Jim- You put TIR3 lights on the side of an engine?? Are those in combination with other "normal" light heads you find on an engine, like 600 or 700 series lightheads?

I used the TIR6 lights. I DO like two of Whelen's products now (TIR6 and the SA314 speaker).
