Can you program a CDM1250 remote mount?

Post by bcooper »

I thought I read here that you can't program a CDM1250 using the mic jack if it is remote mounted. I searched the site and can't find anything about this. Is this accurate or am I having a senior moment? I don't want to program this radio knowing how these radios can be if everything isn't kosher.
Thanks.

It seems to be a little touchy. I've gotten a few "EPROM CS ERROR"s after programming CDMs with the remote head. It's only happened a couple of times, and they have all been recoverable, but it is enough to make one nervous...

And yes, that was with a genuine /\/\ RIB, honest-too-goodness legit CPS, and a quality cable, so it was definitely a radio issue.

Never had the problem with the head directly mounted, or when programming from the rear accessory connector on a remote head radio.

I had problems with my radio once programming through the Mic jack, but not the rest of the time. It was previously said that Motorola recommended that you do not program through the Mic jack. Makes it tough if you program through the accessory connector.

Has there been any updates to this issue? I find myself with the same problem. Radio works fine with the remote setup but I when I go to read/write the radio the message comes up that that the com port can not be opened, check the cables etc. I removed the remote setup and go direct with the control head back to the transciever and it works fine. I seen that this was an issue a few years back and was curious if there had been a fix developed for this. Any help is appreciated as it will be quite the pain that once I get the radio installed if it cant be done.

motorola put out a service bulliten on this a long time ago and it says to put the head back on the radio to program it if you are using the mic jack. but it always programs fine if you use the 20 pin on the back.

Just out of curiosity, do they all have the same firmware? I wonder if the hit-or-miss results with programming through the front jack are a result of firmware.

I had this problem and had no clue that i couldn't do that... so after getting the EEPRM CS ERR, i connected 1 head directly to the radio with a network cable and was able to salvage the radio that way... now my bag allways has a 6ft stretch of straight cat-5e (NOT CROSSOVER)

A friend of mine talked to a guy that works at the local M dealer and he was saying that the 06.04 cps does not support remote mount. I guess there is a new 07 cps that has just come out that the shop has been using and it works. I havent seen it with my own eyes so I am just going by hearsay. Any opionions if this is the case?
