Saber lll
Need some help
I Purchased a used saber lll. (nice radio) I tried to read the code plug and received "Codeplug Too New For This Application". Ok now what?
I'm a looser right from the start!
Thanks

The radio was programmed with a later version of RSS than you are using. They are not backwards compatible. Your two choices are to clone in an identical codeplug which is readable with your version of RSS, or to get the latest & greatest RSS from Motorola.

ok
what model saber
what software version
the "codeplug too new" is indicative of you using the wrong software... the Saber RSS doesn't have such messages.
now if you are talking ASTRO Saber... then that's another ball of wax and you might indeed have software that's too old for the radio you are attempting to read.

- What radios do you own?: A few! Most I sign out!
[quote="mancow"]Has anyone EVER seen that screen when dealing with an analog saber?
I'm thinking ASTRO myself.
Does your radio have a secure switch on the edge or around the channel knob?

thats what got me! Never seen it on analog saber! ex: on a mt2000 I got that message, my rss was outdated so I sent away to "M" for the latest version. and prob was then solved with the latest rss

- What radios do you own?: XTS 5000 to Mocom
It is a system Saber.
I deal with these all the time. I have 7 VHF system Saber III's and 2 UHF System Saber III's all with DES-XL secure modules. They are 256 channel radios with motorola trunking capability. I received the same error when I first mixed up a system saber for a regular saber III. You need to use System Saber Lab software to program them. The good thing about the software it covers 140-174 straight with no hardware hacks. The UHF one does the same 430-470 no hardware hacks. They are great durable radios. Alot of my ham friends are buying them due to the audio output and receive capability. Every time I am on the repeater I have people commenting on the crisp clear signal. Congrats with your new purchase, If you have any questions about the radio let me know. I know this style of radio like the back of my hand. LOL
If you can't get the software for the radio and you want to sell it let me know, I will be happy to take it off your hands for you. I am looking for a few more UHF system saber III's to add to the collection.
