Motorola N1274A and N1275A amplifier info wanted.

Post by n8ysz »

All -

I'm looking for information on the Motorola N1274A and N1275A amplifiers. I've searched the web and come up with a few bits of information, but nothing substantial. I've called Motorola and the manual is not in their system - so unavailable.

I'm specifically looking for information about the transistor(s) used for these amps, but any actual documentation or web references would be appreciated.

What I've found so far:

http://www.eham.net/forums/Amplifiers/1048 and http://www.diversifiedelectronics.com/pdf/mt500.pdf

The latter of which lists the service manuals as being numbers 6881020C85 and 6881020C90.

I've had a couple of the N1274A's - the VHF version. They work fairly well as a brick amp for 2m FM HT's. My overall interest is in whether it would be possible to make the amp usable for SSB/CW.

Thanks!
Dan.

HI:

I have all the documents on these units !

Basically, they are 4 ~ 5 Watts in, and 40 ~ 45 Watts
out. Designed for Converta-Coms and low power portables.

Since they are " Relay Driven " and not designed for continious
duty, I suspect they would not be suitable for your applcation.

Best to get a RF power amp designed for your use.

Hi Jason,

Gosh, I didn't know. I'm so sorry for posting that - I just didn't know.

Just found this board and his post and hit reply. I didn't even know him and now I'm a bit sad. I lost my father the same way and I know the shock.

thanks,
ben, KD5BYB
