AIMI cards

Post by Zaputil »

Does an AIMI card have a built in CSU/DSU?

How is a remote (off-site) CEB usually connected to a AEB?

Thanks!

The AIMI card has two built-in RJ-45 jacks on the front of it, one for audio & another for data. The remote CEB connects to the AEB through T1 lines...the usual T1 modems/channel banks must be used...that's not built into the card.

2 RJ 45 jacks on the AIMI cards are both data ports (T1 ports)
J300 is for your first T1 (first 24 time slots). The second one (J301) is for the second T1 of the same link. This is used fot T1 Xbus, or E1 mancester. It is required when you exceed 24 time slots in either direction. (one time slot is for data path and the other 23 time slots are audio channels).

The T1 is a 4-wire connection. CSU/DSU must be provided externally as required. In our case the telco provides all hardware to give us a RJ45 jack at each end. All clocking is sourced back to the AMB (Embassy).
